Add Helmior to Slack

Before you start

• You need to be an admin in Helmior.
• In Slack, you need permission to install apps. If your workspace requires app approval, a Slack admin must approve Helmior first. Slack shows you a Request button instead of Allow when that's the case.

1. Connect Slack

1. In the Helmior dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations.
2. Under Workspaces, find Slack and click Connect.
3. Slack opens its approval screen. Check the workspace name in the top-right corner, then click Allow.
4. You're sent back to Helmior and the Slack card shows Connected.

Helmior loads your channels and people straight away. If you add channels or teammates in Slack later, click Sync channels & people on the Slack card.

2. Put Helmior in the channel

• Public channels: pick the channel when you create or bind a pipeline, and Helmior joins it by itself.
• Private channels: Slack doesn't let an app join a private channel on its own. Open the channel and send /invite @Helmior, or click the channel name → Integrations → Add apps.

3. Add your teammates

Go to Organization → Add person. Your Slack workspace's people are listed, so you can pick them directly. See Add people so Helmior recognises them.

Talking to Helmior in Slack

• In a channel: mention it — @Helmior new Acme Ltd, 3 bed refit. Slack only tells Helmior about messages that mention it.
• In a thread: Helmior replies in the thread under your message. Updates about a card belong in that card's thread, and there @Helmior quoted £4,200 is enough.
• In a DM: open Helmior from Apps in the sidebar and ask questions. DMs are read-only.
• Files: attach a photo, PDF or document to your mention and Helmior reads it.

When it picks up your message, Helmior adds an emoji reaction and shows what it's doing while it works.

The admin who connects Slack also grants access to the private channels they belong to, so those channels can be picked for a pipeline. Helmior still only acts on messages that mention it. See Permissions, data and privacy.

Frequently asked questions

Helmior replies with the emoji as a message instead of reacting. Why?

Your workspace connected Helmior before it asked for permission to add reactions. Disconnect and connect Slack again from Settings → Integrations. Slack only adds new permissions when an app is reinstalled.

Can I use Helmior in Slack Connect channels shared with another company?

Helmior acts only for people in your workspace who have been added in Helmior. People from the other company are told to ask an admin, and nothing they say is saved.

How do I remove Helmior from Slack?

Disconnect it from Settings → Integrations in Helmior. That deletes the stored credential. To remove the app from Slack itself, a Slack admin can remove it under Manage apps.

Can I rename the bot in Slack?

The name people mention is the app's display name in Slack. Helmior works out its own handle when you connect, so it keeps responding after a rename.
