Add Helmior to Google Chat

Before you start

• You need to be an admin in Helmior.
• You need a Google Workspace account on your company's domain. Personal @gmail.com accounts can't use Chat apps.
• If your Workspace restricts Chat apps, a Google Workspace admin needs to allow Helmior in the Admin console.

1. Connect Google Chat

1. In the Helmior dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations.
2. Under Workspaces, find Google Chat and click Connect.
3. Sign in with your Google Workspace account and approve.

Signing in tells Helmior your company's domain, and links spaces on that domain to your workspace. Only one Helmior workspace can connect a given domain.

2. Add Helmior to a space

In Google Chat:

1. Open the space your team uses.
2. Click the space name → Apps & integrations → Add apps.
3. Search for Helmior and click Add.

You can also type @Helmior in the space and choose Add to space when Chat offers it.

The space shows up in Helmior as soon as the app is added. Bind it to a pipeline. See Bind a channel to a pipeline.

Can't find Helmior in the app list? Your Workspace admin needs to allow it. In the Google Admin console, go to Apps → Google Workspace Marketplace apps (or Apps → Google Workspace → Google Chat → Chat apps) and allow Helmior for your organisation or group.

3. Add your teammates

A teammate appears in Organization → Add person once they've mentioned Helmior in a connected space. Ask each person to send @Helmior hello, then add them. See Add people so Helmior recognises them.

Talking to Helmior in Google Chat

• In a space: @Helmior Acme signed, move to Delivery. Google Chat only sends Helmior messages that mention it.
• In a thread: reply inside the card's thread to update that card.
• In a DM: start a chat with Helmior and ask questions. DMs are read-only.
• Files: Helmior can't read attachments in Google Chat yet. Describe what matters in the message.

Frequently asked questions

We have guests from other companies in our space. Is that a problem?

No. A space with outside guests belongs to the workspace of whoever added Helmior to it, not to a guest's company. Guests aren't people in your workspace, so Helmior won't act on what they say.

Our company uses more than one Google domain.

Each space belongs to the domain of the person who added Helmior. For everything to land in one workspace, have someone on your connected domain add the app.

Is this the same as connecting Google Docs, Sheets and Meet?

No. Google Chat is where Helmior talks. Docs, Sheets, Meet and Gmail are separate, optional connections. See Google Docs, Sheets, Meet and Gmail.
