Add Helmior to Discord

Before you start

• You need to be an admin in Helmior.
• In Discord, you need the Manage Server permission on the server you're adding Helmior to. Discord requires it to add any app.

1. Connect Discord

1. In the Helmior dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations.
2. Under Workspaces, find Discord and click Connect.
3. Discord asks which server to add Helmior to. Pick it, check the permissions and click Authorize.

Helmior is in your server before you're sent back. It asks for three permissions only:

Permission	Why
View Channels	To see the channel it's used in
Send Messages	To reply
Read Message History	So "move that to Quoted" knows what that is

2. Make sure it can see the channel

Helmior can see any channel its role can see. For a private channel, open the channel's settings → Permissions, add the Helmior role or member, and turn on View Channel, Send Messages and Read Message History.

Then bind the channel to a pipeline. See Bind a channel to a pipeline. If a new channel isn't listed, click Sync channels & people on the Discord card.

3. Add your teammates

A teammate appears in Organization → Add person once they've used /helmior in a connected channel. Ask each person to send /helmior hello, then add them. See Add people so Helmior recognises them.

Talking to Helmior in Discord

On Discord you talk to Helmior with a slash command, not an @mention:

1. Type /helmior and choose it from the list.
2. Type your message in the box that appears, then press Enter.

Helmior shows that it's thinking while it works, then replies in the channel. Use the same command in a DM with Helmior to ask questions; DMs are read-only.

Why a slash command? Discord only sends ordinary channel messages to apps over a permanent connection. A slash command is sent straight to Helmior and is clearly meant for it, which fits the rule that Helmior only acts when it's spoken to.

Helmior can't read files attached on Discord yet. Describe what matters in the message.

Frequently asked questions

/helmior doesn't show up when I type it.

Discord can take a minute to show a new app's commands. Also check that you're in a server Helmior was added to, and that your role is allowed to use application commands there (Server Settings → Integrations → Helmior).

Can I @mention Helmior instead?

No. On Discord, use /helmior. An @mention isn't delivered to Helmior.

Can I add Helmior to more than one server?

Each Discord server is a separate connection. For most teams, one server with a channel per pipeline is simpler.
