Your brief

The brief is a private message from Helmior each day, week or month listing what's overdue, due, stuck, or waiting on your approval. An admin sets it up for the workspace by telling Helmior. You can stop yours or change its time the same way.

What's in it

Helmior sends you a direct message, a day brief, week brief or month brief depending on how your workspace is set up, with:

  • Overdue. Your records whose due date has passed.
  • Due today / this week / this month. Your records due in that stretch.
  • Stuck. Your records that haven't moved for a while.
  • Waiting on your approval. Moves held for your yes.
  • Your wall. Personal reminders you set with Helmior, for the same stretch.

A week brief covers the seven days from the day it arrives. A month brief covers the rest of the month. For reminders about individual records and meetings, see Reminders.

It only lists records you're on or raised. When there's nothing to say, it sends nothing.

Reply to it the way you'd talk in the group chat, for example Acme is done. Helmior asks you to confirm, then posts the update in the record's thread. See Direct messages.

Setting it up (admins)

Tell Helmior what you want, in a direct message or any group chat it's in:

send everyone a day brief at 8
make the brief weekly, on Fridays at 4pm
send a month brief on the 1st
only send briefs to people who ask
turn the brief off
how is the brief set up?

Helmior repeats the change back and saves it when you say yes. There are three options for who gets it:

Option What happens
Off Nobody gets it.
For people who ask Each person starts it by messaging Helmior "send me my brief".
For everyone Everyone gets it once they've messaged Helmior directly at least once.

A day brief can skip weekends ("day briefs on weekdays only"). A month brief set for the 29th–31st arrives on the last day of shorter months. Times use the workspace's timezone. Settings → General → Brief shows how it's set up right now.

Your own settings

Tell Helmior, in a direct message or any group chat it's in:

send me my brief
make mine weekly, on Fridays
send it at 7:30 instead
stop my brief
is my brief on?

Your choice always wins over the workspace default, except that nobody gets one while an admin has it set to Off. If the admin later changes the workspace's brief, your own choices stay as you set them.

Setting someone else's brief

You can set up a brief for someone else, for example send Dana a weekly brief on Fridays at 4pm or turn off Sam's brief. There are guardrails:

  • Who can. An admin can set anyone's brief. Anyone else can only set the brief of people who report to them, directly or further down. Everyone else's brief belongs to them.
  • Their "stop" is final. If someone stopped their brief themselves, nobody else can turn it back on or change it. Only they can.
  • They're told. Helmior messages the person whenever someone else changes their brief, and they can stop it or change it at any time.
  • They need to have messaged Helmior once. A brief only goes to a direct chat the person started.

Frequently asked questions

I turned it on but nothing arrived.

Helmior can only write to a direct chat you've already started, so message it once first. A brief with nothing overdue, due, stuck or waiting sends nothing.

Why doesn't it always arrive on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp only lets a business write to you within 24 hours of your last message. Helmior sends the brief when it falls inside that window and skips it otherwise.

Is this the same as the weekly digest?

No. The brief is private and about your own work. A digest is posted in a workflow's group chat for the whole team. See Change how a workflow runs.
