Bring your work in from Microsoft Planner

An admin can copy a Microsoft Planner plan into Helmior once. You see every bucket, task and person before anything comes in, and nothing stays linked to Planner afterwards.

Updated

Bringing a plan in copies it once. Helmior never changes anything in Planner, and it doesn't keep the two in sync.

Connect Microsoft Planner

Only an admin can do this.

  1. In the Helmior app, go to Import work on Home and open Microsoft Planner. You're also offered this while you set up.
  2. Click Connect and sign in with your Microsoft account. Helmior only asks to read your plans and the names of people on them.

Planner only shows plans your account is a member of. If you see nothing to bring in, add that account to the plan in Planner first.

Bring a plan in

  1. Choose a plan. Each one shows its buckets and how many tasks are in each.
  2. Check what was found, choose Helmior's Suggested steps or your buckets As in Microsoft Planner, and choose who on your team gets each person's tasks.
  3. Click Bring in. Nothing changes until you do.

What comes across

From Planner In Helmior
Buckets Steps, in the same order
Tasks Cards, with their title and due date
Priority, notes, checklist and links Added to the card's description
Assignees The teammates you chose

A task arrives closed when it's 100% complete in Planner. Everything else arrives open.

Comments stay in Planner, because Planner keeps them in the Microsoft 365 group's conversations rather than on the task. Labels and attached files themselves stay too; links to files come across.

After it's in

The plan gets its own page under Import work, where you can change who gets whose tasks and see what has happened. Check for changes brings in new tasks and tasks completed since.

Frequently asked questions

I moved or renamed a task in Planner. Why didn't it change here?

Planner doesn't record when a task last changed, so Check for changes only picks up new and completed tasks. Make the change in Helmior instead.

Does my IT admin need to approve Helmior?

Usually not, since Helmior only reads. Some companies require approval for any outside app; if so, Microsoft says so when you sign in.

How do I disconnect Microsoft Planner?

On the Planner import page, click Disconnect under the title. What you've already brought in stays.

Still stuck? Email support@helmior.com with a screenshot of what you see, and a person will answer.
